Financial aid / Scholarship
As a non-profit, Sunflower Soccer Association (SSA) strives to provide an affordable and competitive experience for all SSA members. Scholarships are provided on a first come, first serve basis, based upon financial need of the family. The amount of scholarship funds available is finite and based upon the budget of Topeka Soccer Club. The standard scholarship will cover up to 50% of the player's Club Fees.
Scholarship applications are reviewed and approved by the Scholarship Committee, which consists of Sunflower Soccer Association board members and the Club Director. Information submitted is confidential and is used for the sole purpose of determining eligibility for financial assistance
Scholarships awarded are only for registration fees with Topeka Soccer Club per SSA policies. The team fees that may be incurred are the responsibility of the family. Additionally, TSC provides an installment payment plan for all families.
Deadlines:
Competitive Players: Application must be submitted by July 1.
*Highschool Boys- Application must be submitted prior to Dec 1st.
If a player is offered a spot after the above date, an application can be submitted within 30 days of the registration date.
Recreational Players: Application must be submitted within 15 days of registration ending for that Fall or Spring season.
FAQ:
How much assistance can I get?
The standard scholarship will cover up to 50% of the player's Club Fees.
Does the scholarship cover team fees?
No, it does not. The scholarship is for club registration fees. There are other costs involved at a team level and they vary from team to team. Please discuss these fees with the team manager and team coach, so that you are informed and can budget for them. Examples of other costs are, uniforms, training fees, and additional tournaments.
What is the club expectation upon granting a scholarship?
We are committing to you, and we ask you to commit to us through volunteering.
Volunteer hours during the season will be requested upon receipt of scholarship.
How many volunteer hours are required?
Competitive- 8 hours total for the soccer year (4 hours in the Fall and 4 hours in the Spring)
Recreational- 2 hours for the season they are awarded a scholarship.
Are we guaranteed financial assistance if we apply?
No, submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
What happens if we submit our application late?
Due to limited funding, applications submitted late, will not be considered for award.

Abigail Medley Memorial College Scholarship

This scholarship has been established by the friends, colleagues, and family of Abigail Medley to honor her memory and provide an opportunity for Topeka Soccer Club players in their pursuit of their education.

Abigail was a bright young lady who had a smile that could light up a room. Abigail served as her club team captain and attended Washburn Rural High School. Anyone who knew Abigail would describe her as a loyal friend who would always be there.
Eligibility:
- Senior high school female student.
- Member of a Topeka Soccer Club Team - provided there is a team available at your level on which to play.
- Must have a "B" or better grade average in your high school career through the second marking period of the current year.
- Extra consideration will be given for service provided to the club, i.e., referee, asst. coach, Volunteering, minikickers.
- Must be participating or have participated in soccer at the high school level.
- Applicant cannot be a family member of any Topeka Select Soccer Club Board member or Scholarship Committee
Amount of Scholarship:
- The scholarship amount is set between $500 - $1,000 per winning applicant.
